Baby It’s Cold Outside…Are you planning a winter wedding? Well take it from this Mornington Celebrant, you are in for a few great things.
Typically Mornington winter weddings are less popular than any other season. (I don’t know why…I love winter!)
This gives you the upper hand for getting the date you want. While most couples are filling out the summer days, you can have the cream of the crop during winter.
Mornington venues tend to be less expensive as well. Try asking for any dates they are unable to fill or any winter specials.
If you are not too fussed on the date and you are able to compromise, you may even get up to 50% off in some cases. #shutupandtakemymoney
- It’s all about that perfect lighting
Winter days are shorter and darker, that’s just how it is. If you do opt for a Mornington Winter Wedding, lighting is something you want to consider.
I recommend holding the ceremony earlier on during the day. This will ensure that you have enough daylight time to get all the group shots and outside shots.
If you are wanting light and bright wedding photos, definitely speak to your photographer.
They will be able to give you some insight as to whether what you want is something they are able to deliver based on the venue and your wedding day schedule.
I say embrace the winter gloom! Ask your photographer what shots he/she has in mind for you. Ask if they can show you photos of previous Mornington Winter Weddings.
- Brrrr it’s cold in here – Warm up the rooms
Make sure when booking the ceremony or reception, you ask the venue if they are able to warm up the room/s well in advance.
The last thing you want is your guests turning into icicles or worse, unable to concentrate on the main event because they are just too damn cold. Brrrr.
Another great idea is to provide your guests with some blankets to rug up with.
3. You’re hot and your cold! – Venue ventilation
Now I know what you are thinking, what ventilation? It’s going to be cold! Keep everything shut.
Well, while you want to make sure the ceremony and the reception rooms are kept warm, it’s also a good idea to check with the venue that it accommodates for good ventilation.
Optimal temperature control is what you want for winter months.
4. Flower Power
Like with any season, certain flowers are going to be more expensive or just mission impossible to get.
That’s ok, take a deep breath! This doesn’t mean you are limited in any way.
Have a chat to your florist about what flowers are in season in winter and go from there.
Some ideas would be to use branches! Rustic branches and fairy lights, if that’s not elegant I don’t know what is!
If you can’t go too crazy with flowers, let candles be your new best winter wedding reception accessory.
Mornington Winter Weddings can be absolutely stunning, and really every season has its obstacles to get over right?
At least during winter, you are more likely to save on expenses, get the date that you want and have some spare dollars to spend on your honeymoon.
